I am going to share with you one of my absolute favourite ingredients for mental health. I add this particular super food to my meals, every-single-day! It will not only help you feel good in the moment, it will help your mental clarity, brain power, and energy levels long term!
This super ingredient is called MCT oil. MCT is short for Medium-chain triglyceride oil which means it contains medium-length chains of fats called triglycerides.
MCT Oil is extremely effective, not only will it provide you with instant, sustainable energy, it also promotes a healthy gut environment, and can pass through the blood brain barrier, meaning it fuels energy for your brain cells as well. This is what makes it, in my books an important ingredient for mental health.
Something I commonly talk about in the Eat to Beat Anxiety Program is the importance of reducing and eliminating lactic acid build up in the body as it is a major pre-cursor to anxiety, in particular panic attacks and other bodily symptoms. It is proven by science that MCT oil helps to reduce lactic build up within the body. MCT oil also has antimicrobial and anti fungal properties to help target yeast overgrowth that is particularly higher when we have low-immunity, are over-stressed, over-worked or are more prone to be anxious.
